Southwest monsoon set to be delayed

Hyderabad: Monsoons in Kerala this year would be delayed from the normal date of June 1 for the last 50 years. The skyman announce that it would strike the Kerala coast on June 7 (plus or minus four days). The date of their striking Rayalsee-ma is not yet announced.

Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, Director Mr. Y. K Reddy said, “Once the monsoon strikes the coast of Kerala, the IMD can predict the day of arrival in Rayalseema or Telangana. It would generally take 2-3 days to reach Rayalseema from Kerala.”

The normal date for monsoon arrival in Telangana is June 5. However, due to the delay in its hitting Indian coast, the arrival may be further delayed in TS.
In 2015 the monsoon arrived on june 13th.

TheIMD states that, based on the weather conditions in Kerala, the arrival date in Rayalseema and Telangana can be predicted.
