New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Afghanistan on June 4, where he will, along with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, inaugurate the Afghan-India Friendship Dam, earlier known as Salma Dam, in Herat province of Western Afghanistan.

About 1,500 Indian and Afghan engineers and other professionals worked relentlessly in very difficult conditions to complete the dam.

It also highlights India's continued commitment to Afghanistan's reconstruction and development.

On December 25 last, Prime Minister Modi and President Ghani had dedicated the new Parliament building constructed under India-Afghanistan development cooperation to Afghanistan.

The forthcoming meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Ghani will also provide an opportunity to discuss the situation in Afghanistan and how the two countries can cooperate further for promoting peace and stability there.
