Telangana should preserve OGH, suggests Muffakham Jah
Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s royal scion Mr Mir Karamath Ali Khan Siddiqui Bahadur, the grandson of the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, visited Osmania General Hospital and inspected the century-old building.
He was received by the Superintendent of the hospital Dr B. Nagender, Osmania Alumni Dr Pandu Naik and Dr Iqbal Jaweed, National Governing Body Member of INTACH Ms P. Anuradha, and RMO Dr Rafe. Mr Muffakham Jha opined that instead of shifting or reconstructing the hospital, the government should preserve the heritage building. He suggested that the government should build new buildings equipped with modern technology and improved patient care facilities without disturbing the existing monumental structure, and assured to do everything all that he can to help.
He further helped an old lady sit up on a chair, and requested the authorities to do the needful for her. He was accompanied by Mr Anees Hussain, Trustee of the Nizamia Hyderabad Women’s Association Trust and Mr Mazharuddin Jaweed. Ms P. Anuradha suggested that the government should consider a comprehensive development plan for Osmania General Hospital, and recommended announcing a contest inviting architectural plans for the same.
