Telangana sets up agency to reverify Intermediate marks

Software of Globarena Technologies said to be at fault.

Hyderabad: The constant agitations over the goof-up in the Intermediate examination results and the calls for a bandh have made the government appoint an agency, the Telangana State Technological Services (TSTS), to oversee the re-evaluation of the marks.

The order, which was issued by the Telangana State Intermediate Board, stated that TSTS will oversee the re-evaluation of the papers of more than three lakh students. The agency will check and tally the marks of the students.

After proper verification, final marks will be announced.

The problems have been found in the software of Globarena Technologies, the company entrusted with the compiling and checking of results and to avoid any further goof-ups the independent agency will reverify the marks.

A senior officer in the education department admitted that “parents are very angry. There has been severe backlash on social media sites. There have also been constant protests by various groups, demanding action against the board and the agency. Hence, the first task was to not have any further problems and re-check and supervise all the papers properly”.

At present, the re-evaluation is being done at 10 centres in the state. The process has to be completed before May 8.

With the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test on May 3, there is much anxiety among students and parents as the Inter results have to be submitted during the admission process.
