Candidature of TRS MLAs kin in ZPTC polls ignored

The Nizamabad zilla parishad chairperson post is general category, as a result, MLAs had hoped to elevate their family members.

Nizamabad: The ruling TRS party has set aside the candidatures of the kin of MLAs in ensuing Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elections.

To avoid political disturbances among party leaders and cadre, the party high command discouraged family members of MLAs, who had shown interest in contesting the ensuing ZPTC/MPTC elections.

The Nizamabad zilla parishad chairperson post is general category, as a result, MLAs had hoped to elevate their family members.

Reportedly, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy’s son Pocharam Surender Reddy, Bodhan MLA Shakil Amer wife Ayesha Fathima, Nizamabad Rural MLA Bajireddy Govardhan son Bajireddy Jagan aspired for ZPTC tickets. Surender Reddy and Ayesha Fathima even transferred their votes to Kotagiri and Bodhan mandals.

Strategically, the TRS high command set aside the candidatures but, Nizamabad Rural MLA Bajireddy Govardhan fielded his son from Dharpally mandal.

However, TRS senior leader Dadannagari Vittal Rao, who was unanimously elected as Makloor ZPTC member is the ‘front runner’ for ZP chief post. In Kamareddy district, undivided ZP chairman Dafedar Raju’s wife is the main contender for the ZP chairperson post as it is reserved for Backward Classes woman.
