After phase four, Odisha poll percentage is 73.08
Bhubaneswar: After the conclusion of phase four polling in Odisha, barring the Patkura Assembly segment, Chief Electoral Officer Surendra Kumar on Wednesday informed that the state has recorded an average polling of 73.08 per cent.
While 73.76 per cent votes were polled during the first phase, the voter turnout in the second and third phase was recorded at 72.56 per cent and 71.62 per cent respectively. Similarly, in the fourth phase polls, 74.50 per cent polling was registered in the state.
“The highest polling in a Parliamentary constituency was in Nabarangpur which recorded 78.89 per cent voter turnout, where as lowest voting percentage in a Lok Sabha segment was recorded in Bhubaneswar which saw a dismal 59.60 per cent turnout,” said CEO Surendra Kumar.
“Among Assembly constituencies, the highest polling percentage of 86.83 per cent was recorded in Kotpad while the lowest of 43.04 per cent polling was recorded in Bhubaneswar-Central seat,” he said.
The four-phased elections kicked off in the state on April 11 and concluded on April 29. Barring a few incidents of EVM glitches, booth rigging and poll violence, the polling process was conducted peacefully in most parts of the State. The EVMs have been stored in designated strong rooms across the state amid tight security.
The counting of votes and declaration of results will be carried out on May 23, 2019.
