Tweet to K T Rama Rao helps senior citizen get a sewer line
Hyderabad: Miffed at the inaction of GHMC officials in solving a drainage issue at Huda colony in Chandanagar, a twitter user decided to reach out to Minister of IT K.T. Rama Rao. Mr Srikanth Cirigiri, in a tweet to Mr Rao, wrote, “My father is a Senior citizen - 71 years - and is finding hard to fix drainage issue at his hard-earned home in Chanda Nagar. He has been tirelessly visiting GHMC offices for last 3 years with no results. We also submitted a copy to deputy commissioner with no results (sic).”
The minister directed zonal commissioner Hari Chandana Dasari to attend to the matter personally. Ms. Dasari deputed engineers to the site who made a comprehensive survey of the whole area. “A proposal has been made to construct a drain at a cost of '94 lakh and work will start soon”, she said. A GHMC official, who visited the site, said, “The drainage works have been proposed in that area and the tender has been allotted. Once the sewerage line is setup, the resident can connect it to main sewage line.”
