N Uttam Kumar Reddy, K Jana Reddy did nothing when in power: K T Rama Rao

The IT minister also said that while the Congress was in power, people had to sit in dharnas for electricity.

Hyderabad: The gates of the Pragathi Bhavan, the official residence of Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, will be open not for contractors and those who create hurdles for development, but for workers and poor people, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan during May Day celebrations on Tuesday, Mr Rama Rao said TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Opposition leader in Telangana Assembly K. Jana Reddy were making hollow speeches about development now, but did nothing when they were in power. Mr Rama Rao also took a dig at Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy, saying, “Having a beard does not make one a Gabbar Singh”.

The IT minister also said that while the Congress was in power, people had to sit in dharnas for electricity, so much that the Congress regime was declared a power holiday due to its inefficiency. He claimed that the TRS government had solved the electricity crisis within six months of coming to power, and that the state is now enjoying 24x7 power supply. He added that the state government had taken up double-bedroom houses to enhance the self respect of the poor, and nothing could be done to the Chief Minister, who lives in the hearts of people.
