Jagtiyal man stranded in KSA returns home

The victim reached out to KTR through Twitter for help to which the minister replied promptly.

Hyderabad: Ravi Patel, a man from Jagtiyal district who was being held against his will in Saudi Arabia, was rescued from the clutches of his employer and brought back to India on Monday..

Mr Patel, an employee of Sitaf Saudi Co. Ltd, had reached out to K.T. Rama Rao, the minister for NRI Affairs and MP K. Kavitha on Twitter, seeking their help. He had said, “I’ve been in Saudi Arabia for two years. My employer is not sending me back home, nor has he paid me for the past four months”. He said that he was helpless because he came from a poor family, and he wanted to commit suicide.

Responding to the request, Mr Rao directed officials and the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to bring the aggrieved Indian back home and also asked them to arrange the flight tickets. He replied to the tweet saying, “Ravi, we will bring you back to India safely. Not to worry brother.”

Mr Patel was working in Jeddah with Sitaf Saudi Co Ltd. The embassy officials sought his details and reached out to him. After some to and fro communication, the distressed is successfully returning to Hyderabad.

On Monday, Ravi took to Twitter and wrote, “I am safe and on the way to my motherland India, Solved all my problems that I faced while working in the company.”

He thanked minister K. T. Rama Rao and the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia for supporting him.
