Hyderabad: SHE team got 86 plaints in April

Hyderabad: The She Team has received around 86 complaints in April from women across the city, including techies who were cheated by men at their workplace and others.

Sandeep Shandilya, IPS, said all complaints have been acted upon and disposed of. “Twenty-two cases were registered in Cyberabad commissionerate. A total of 12 accused, most in the age group of 18-30 years, were arrested and remanded to judicial custody. We have conducted 12 awareness programmes, which were attended by around 5,650 persons.”

He added that three offenders were caught in action as they were harassing women during nine decoy operations. Fifteen individuals were counselled at Care Against Women (CAW) cell in the Cyberabad Commissionerate.

A software professional approached She Team on April 1 and lodged a complaint against a person claiming to be a rich businessman who enticed her in the name of love. He promised marriage, sexually assaulted her repeatedly and got her pregnant. When she insisted that he marry her, he refused and absconded. Based on her complaint, the KPHB police registered a case, arrested the accused and remanded him to judicial custody.

Two days later, on April 3, a woman lodged a complaint with the She Team stating that in the year 2015, she was working as a project manager at a software company in Madhapur. She became friends with a colleague who said he loved her, promised to marry and sexually assaulted her repeatedly. She also stated that he caused her huge financial losses by demanding money and also threatened to show her photos to others.

In another incident, on April 19, a car driver lured a 16-year-old and confined her in a rented house at Bhongir where he sexually assaulted her for three months. The shocked mother lodged a complaint with the She Team. The police registered a case and remanded him to judicial custody. Four rape cases were also registered. Fifteen cases of sexual harassment, two cases of eve teasing and one petty case were registered in April.
