Revanth goes for survey of party aspirants

Hyderabad: Even as it appears that the Congress leadership is under pressure from several aspirants, TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy is not ready to take any chances and hopes to make the right choice when it comes to giving tickets for the Assembly elections.

To this end, the party has started a survey of the strengths and weaknesses of contenders. The party will take into account the social media history and activity of the aspirant for gauging how active he or she is in the party. According to party sources, three surveyors are examining the aspirants in each of the Parliamentary constituencies to get an idea about the individual leader’s reach amongst the voters and their winning chances. A city-based agency was roped in for conducting the survey a few months back.

“A team approached and interviewed me. Another aspirant from an Old City constituency informed me that he received a call from one of the surveyors who has gone through his social media history of the past six months. To assess how I was engaged in the party’s campaigns during the period they also went through Facebook and Twitter accounts and interestingly provided me with feedback,” said an aspirant.

It is believed that despite the party strategist Sunil Kanugolu’s team being busy monitoring the day-to-day updates about the party’s progress from across the state, Revanth Reddy is keen to get a grasp of the ground situation on his own, before zeroing in on the candidate.

There is a talk that he has been inspired by his Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) counterpart D.K. Shivakumar who hired DesignBoxed, a political consultancy firm, for a similar purpose.

“Time and again leaders have trusted surveys. It will not be a surprise if Reddy engages any agency at this juncture,” felt another leader.
