Cattle trader allgedly beaten to death in Karnataka, case booked

The body of Idrees Pasha was found a few distance away from the spot where cow vigilantes intercepted the vehicle

Bengaluru: Mystery shrouds the death of a cattle trader Idrees Pasha in Satanoor of Kanakapura in Ramanagar district and he is alleged to have been beaten to death by cattle vigilantes on Friday leading to protests on Saturday in Sathanur. Idrees Pasha is said to belong to Mandya.

It is said that Zaheer, Irfan and Idrees Pasha were intercepted by cow vigilantes in Satanoor and caught a vehicle with 16 cattle being transported to to Tamil Nadu via Satanoor on Friday.

Cow vigilantes led by Puneet Kerehalli are said to have kept an eye on the vehicle transporting cattle and alleged to have followed the vehicle from Malavalli in Mandya district till they intercepted the vehicle in Satanoor. Zaheer in the vehicle was caught hold by the vigilantes and said to be in police custody while Irfan and Idrees were chased away by the group.

A few distance from the spot where cow vigilantes intercepted the vehicle with cattle, the body of Idrees Pasha was found. It is alleged that cow vigilantes attacked Idrees and alleged to have beaten him to death.

A complaint against Puneeth Kerehalli has been filed at Sathanur police station and police sources told Deccan Chronicle on Sunday that the investigation is underway in the case.
