Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court reserved its verdict on Monday on a batch of appeals and writ petitions filed against various irregularities in conducting Group-2 exams and evaluation of OMR sheets, such as use of whitener and double bubbling.
Before reserving its judgment, a division bench comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice P. Keshava Rao heard the contentions of the Telangana Public Service Commission and the appellants who preferred appeals against the single judge’s orders which disables candidates who did double bubbling and use of whitener on OMR sheets.
The bench also reserved orders on the petitions by some candidates who sought evaluation of their OMR sheets which were rejected by the TSPSC when it noticed mistakes.
Additional advocate general of the state J. Ramachandra Rao and counsel for TSPSC Donthineni Balakishan Rao contended that the evaluation of OMR sheets were made as per the guidelines of the recruitment notification and urged the court to allow them to continue the recruitment process, saying that unsuccessful candidates were causing hindrances by filing court cases since the exams were conducted in 2016.
Counsels for the appellants submitted that the invigilators or examiners who were appointed by the TSPSC to supervise the written exams had misguided the candidates in filling the OMR sheets, given that the candidates were pushed to commit double bubbling. In addition to their arguments, the counsels brought to the notice of the court that whitener was supplied by the examiners to the candidates in order to correct their mistakes.
Earlier, Justice P. Naveen Rao had said that candidates who have done double bubbling and used whiteners were to be excluded in preparation of verification of certificates and merit list.
