Periya victims’ parents move Kerala High Court for CBI probe
Kochi: Parents of slain Youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sarathlal of Periya in Kasargod on Monday approached the Kerala High Court demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the twin murder on February 17.
Those who filed the petition, Krishnan and Balamani, parents of Kripesh and Sathyanarayanan and Lalitha, parents of Sarathlal, said that CPM workers murdered them over political vengeance and they had no faith in the police investigation.
The petition said Crime Branch SP V. K. Muhammed Rafeeq who had initially investigated the case was removed after their deposition that top CPM leaders in the district had conspired to kill them.
Later the probe was sabotaged by including trusted officers of CPM.
One accused was released from custody by former MLA and CPM leader K. Kunhiraman using threats and force.
The petitioners also said that CPM district committee member V. P. P. Musthafa who threatened to eliminate Congress workers weeks before the murders had not been questioned.
They also said that the request to the home secretary and DGP to transfer the cases to CBI was not favourably considered.
