Madras HC rejects plea to take action against M K Stalin

This part, the ECI from time to time, has issued advisory instructing the candidates to maintain high standard during election campaign.

Chennai: The Madras high court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation, which sought a direction to the authorities to take action on the complaint against DMK president M.K.Stalin for his alleged violation of code of conduct.

Dismissing the PIL filed by a AIADMK spokesperson, a division bench comprising Justices S.Manikumar and Subramonium Prasad said, “As complaint has been acted upon, writ petition has become infructuous and hence it is dismissed”.

In his petition, the petitioner submitted that the code of conduct prohibits leveling false statements by any candidate or his agent or any other person in public domain. This part, the ECI from time to time, has issued advisory instructing the candidates to maintain high standard during election campaign. However, M.K.Stalin and the DMK with an intention to cause disrepute , defame and damage the name, fame and the reputation of chief minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami has been circulating video clippings in social media making allegations linking him in the Kodanadu Estate murder and robbery case, he added.
