Karnataka high court issues notice to Bidadi police

The prosecution argued that Mr Ganesh\'s self-defence claim is nothing but a self-created story.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court ordered a notice to the Bidadi police following criminal petition filed by Mr J.N. Ganesh, Kampli MLA, who approached the court seeking bail in the case related to the alleged assault and bid to kill Vijayanagara MLA Anand Singh. The alleged incident took place at a resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The sitting MLA, who is under judicial custody and lodged at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, has sought bail on the ground that it was an act of self-defence. The prosecution argued that Mr Ganesh's self-defence claim is nothing but a self-created story. The special court had rejected his bail plea, observing that prima facie it is established by the prosecution at this stage that the accused is involved in the offences. The court had also noted that the accused had remained unavailable for probe for over a month after the alleged incident and had not filed any complaint over his claim that he was injured too.
