Bengaluru: Nigerian held for peddling drugs

The police received a tipoff about Obidi selling the banned drug.

Bengaluru: A Nigerian was arrested by the sleuths of Central Crime Branch (CCB) for allegedly peddling drugs in the city.

The CCB sleuths on Sunday arrested Peter Obidi (27), a resident of Hennur and a Nigerian national, and recovered Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) from his residence in Hennur.

The police received a tipoff about Obidi selling the banned drug. The police monitored his movements and followed him to his residence at Arkavathi Layout in Hennur.

Obidi, according to the police, was making a deal to sell MDMA to a customer when he was caught. The police seized MDMA, his mobiles phones and other valuables worth Rs 4.5 lakh.

Obidi came to India four years ago and despite the expiry of his visa, had continued to stay. Also, he did not have his passport when he was arrested.

The police have taken Obidi into custody for further investigation.
