Chennai: A bypoll update from election officials stated that 10 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) would be deployed to ensure free and fair polls o RK Nagar Assembly Constituency. In a related to development the Election Commission on Saturday instructed poll officials in R K Nagar to periodically check vehicles of state ministers and state officials to ensure that there is no violation of poll code.
The commission in an order issued special instructions that no government vehicle belonging to any department, political leader, ministers should be allowed to move in the constituency and vehicles should be subjected to check without any hesitation. There will be daily press briefings of district election officer and commissioner of police to meet the media, brief them of the arrangements made and action taken on complaints, the order said.
