Bid on to grab land on Musi river bank
Hyderabad: The Musi river is facing encroachment near Ali Cafe in Amberpet.
When Mayor B. Rammohan visited Amberpet to check the progress of a flyover and road widening works he made a surprise visit to this spot, and ordered an inquiry about the encroachments on a drain as it was filled with debris.
The main intention of those filling the drain was to encroach and grab it by filling it up with debris, said Mr Rizwan Khan a shop owner.
He added, “We have been seeing it since a month but nobody bothered to look into it. However, the issue was raised by some neighbours and they informed the GHMC.”
Mr Ashok Raju, another shop owner said, “Debris from construction sites was being dumped in this drain. The encroachers were successful in their attempt to some extent. However, after the intervention of the Mayor and deputy municipal commissioner we hope the encroachment will fail.”
When contacted GHMC deputy municipal commissioner A. Sailaja said, “This is not a part of Mayor’s road widening project. But when the Mayor visited the site today to check on the progress of Amberpet flyover, he got information about the encroachment on this drain and made a surprise visit to the spot. He later ordered an inquiry.”
“The persons involved in this are not known but soon we will catch them. We got information from locals that some people are bringing trucks and dumping debris at night. People involved in this will be nabbed soon with the help of the police as we have informed the police too about this,” the DMC said.
