Hyderabad: Gandhi Hospital new block mooted to ease functioning
Hyderabad: The Gandhi Hospital administration has asked the Health minister for a new block to decongest the hospital.
Health minister C. Laxma Reddy conducted a review meeting in the hospital on Friday and examined the status of several ongoing projects.
“We requested the minister for the construction of a new block at the doctors’ parking place. The present structures were built 15 years ago. With growing requirements, it needs expansion. We explained to the minister about this and he accepted our proposal,” said Dr J. Venkateswar Reddy, superintendent of Gandhi Hospital.
At present the operation theatres of the hospital are on different floors and surgeons have to run between them leading to several problems during emergencies. To avoid this, the hospital management is planning to accommodate all the operation theatres on one floor in the proposed new block. Most importantly, there is no special block for patients of infective diseases, posing danger to others.
“If we have special blocks for operation theatres like other corporate hospitals, it would be useful. All the surgeons can be available at one place and it would be easy to deal with emergency cases. Also, we must treat patients with infectious diseases separately to ensure that other patients or caretakers are not infected,” the superintendent said. The hospital will also get new beds.
