GUNTUR: The state government is planning to modify the Amaravati capital core design after severe criticism from the public about selecting 50-year-old design.
CRDA vice chairman and minister for municipal administration P. Narayana said that the Amaravati capital core design submitted by Maki Associates of Japan would be put on display for the public in all 13 districts to know the opinion of the public and will modify the present design according to the wishes of the public reflecting the culture and tradition of Andhra people. He came to Velagapudi on Friday to inspect the ongoing works of the temporary Secretariat with AP Legislative Council chairman A. Chakrapani and reviewed the progress of the works.
Mr Narayana said that Maki Associates submitted only the concept design of Amaravati and it can be changed according to the needs. He said that already public display of capital core design was held for two days at Vijayawada.
He said that the government has asked the CRDA to display the Maki Associates’ capital core design for two days in every district and to note down the suggestions from the public.
Mr Narayana said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wished to go according to the wishes of the public about the capital core design. Hence, the Maki Associ-ates design will be modified in the next two months reflecting the Andhras culture and tradition.
It may be recalled that Deccan Chronicle reported about the old design of Amaravati capital core on March 30 and the leaders of the Telugu Desam also took the issue to the notice of the government. The people of Amaravati capital region also expressed dissatisfaction over the design.
Mr Narayana said that five buildings of the temporary Secretariat would be completed by June 15 and AP Assembly and Council buildings complex would be completed by August.
He further added that He mentioned presently month to cater the needs of the officials and employees. Eight main roads would be constructed in the Amaravati Capital Region connecting all villages of the Amaravati. Mr. Narayana said that the five buildings of the temporary Secretariat would be completed by June 15 and AP Assembly and Council buildings complex would be completed by August.
