TS police looking for suitable premises for 35 new police stations

Hyderabad: The tri-commissionerates police are on the lookout for premises to set up 35 police stations for increasing the number of zones and streamlining public service, an official said.

The police have also written to the government and the revenue department to allot suitable premises, wherever possible in Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad. Till then, the police would operate out of private buildings taken on lease, the officer said.

Officials said they intend to streamline police functioning by reworking the work schedule and reducing the burden on staff.

While the Rachakonda and Cyberabad police are making progress in identifying premises for lease, the Hyderabad police are facing a tough time due to high costs.

An official said that the government directed the revenue department to identify lands for exploring the possibility of constructing new buildings, instead of a lease.

Senior officials also initiated staff allocation of inspectors, sub-inspectors, constables and other staff for the functioning of new police stations.
