Telangana High Court seeks govt stand on building for OGH

The bench asked whether the state government wanted to preserve the present building.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Friday asked the state government about its stand on the construction of a building to house Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on the same premises.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice A. Rajasekher Reddy, was hearing a petition filed by Healthcare Reforms’ Doctors Association, seeking a direction from the government to construct a new building to house the OGH, a 150-year-old institution spread over 25 acres of land.

The bench asked whether the state government wanted to preserve the present building. It directed the special counsel for the state government to get instructions on this issue.

Sanjeev Kumar, counsel for the government, said that 80 per cent of the building was not in a useable condition and requested time to place the full details before the court. Considering the request, the Bench adjourned the case to Tuesday.
