Tamil Nadu: Plus two board exams begin with easy language paper

Over 8 lakh students are appearing for the exams.

Chennai: The plus two exams have begun with easy language paper on Friday. The students said they were able to finish the exams within the allotted time in the new pattern.

The state government has revised the total marks for plus two from 1,200 marks to 600 marks and each subject would be awarded 100 marks instead of 200 marks.

Some students said the questions in one and two marks sections have been twisted.

Students at the city school also welcomed the move to reduce the language papers from two papers to one.

“Though the questions were on expected lines, scoring above 90 marks will be difficult due to A few questions in one mark and two mark sections,” teachers said.

School education minister K.A. Sengottaiyan and secretary Pradeep Yadav have inspected the exam centre in Government Higher Secondary School in Thoraipakkam. “Due to the elaborate preparations, the first exam went off smoothly,” officials from school education department said.

Over eight lakh students are appearing for the plus 2 exams in 2,944 centres set up across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Following the restriction from Directorate of Government Examinations, only 4 per cent of teachers involved in exam works alone are from private schools. The plus two exams will go on until March 19.
