Khammam: The engineers of Bhadradri Power Plant have been asked to complete the project by the end of December, 2019. The works of the project, which was supposed to be completed by December 2018, has delayed by one year due to the stay order of the National Green Tribunal.
The National Green Tribunal had suggested that the plant should come up with the use of super critical technology.
The completion of the Bhadradri Power Plant is very important to the Telangana government to extend 24x7 free power to the farm sector.
The BPP power capacity of 1080 MW power from 270 MW X 4 is crucial for the state power grid and it is expected that the capacity of the project will be increased to 4000 MW in the future.
The major advantages that the project has are availability of water and coal at proximity. Water will be brought to the project from the Godavari river, which is just two kilometres away.
Secondly, the coal will be available from SCCL mines at Manuguru, which is 16.5 kilometres away from the project and it can supply the required coal for 60 years. The BPP is being considered as the most cost-effective project due to the two advantages.
The cost of the project while running will be 55.85 per cent less when compared with the other thermal plants in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Transco and Genco CMD D. Prabhakara Rao is monitoring the project. The government has been extending all logistical support to the Plant to complete the job on time. Fourteen class one agencies, 100 expertise engineers from BHEL and Genco and 1,600 workers are working full time to achieve the target.
