KOLLAM: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala on Thursday visited the family of Sugathan, the ex-NRK who had committed suicide last week after he was mentally tortured by local politicians in Punalur. Mr Ramesh promised to take steps to ensure justice to the family and demanded strong police action against the perpetrators.
"The police inquiry is at a snail's pace. All culprits who have conspired to disrupt the peace of the family should be nabbed," he said. Mr. Ramesh was accompanied by Kollam DCC president Bindu Krishna and ex-MLA Punalur Madhu among others. The Kunnikkode police arrested AIYF Kunnikkode constituency president M.S. Gireesh, Imesh, 34, and Satheesh, 32, all AIYF workers, in connection with the suicide and charged them with section 306 of IPC for abetment of suicide.
