Punching system for ministerial staff in Kollam

The ministerial staff supporting policing in the district are supposed to work from 10 am to 5 pm.

KOLLAM: Kollam becomes the first among the district police headquarters to get an electronic punching system to record the attendance of ministerial staff. City Police commissioner Dr. A. Srinivas inaugurated the system at the commissioner's office on Thursday. The electronic punching machine will effectively eliminate the need to maintain manual registers for attendance, based on which the leave days and salary are calculated. The ministerial staff supporting policing in the district are supposed to work from 10 am to 5 pm.

The introduction of the electronic punching system is expected to help improve the efficiency of the staff. The move is part of modernising the district police headquarters after it received the prestigious ISO certification for efficiency. The office was the first of its kind in the state, and the second in the country, to get International Organisation for Standardisation certification ISO 9001 - 2017. The certification mainly points at the efficiency of the office in handling files and timely delivery of service. The office had already implemented several efficiency improving measures including feedback system for file management.
