PM Modi's formula good: Muslim scholars

Senior Income Tax consultant and lawyer, Mohd Jameeluddin said that Islam does not promote or encourage terrorism.

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice to Muslim youth to use modern technology for their growth was welcomed by the Muslim intellectuals of the city. While addressing an event on ‘Islamic Heritage: Promoting Understanding & Moderation’, where Jordan’s King Abdullah II was also present, Prime Minister said that the fight against terrorism and radicalisation was not against any religion, but against a mindset that misguides the young.

“Every religion promotes human values. The youth should associate themselves with the humanitarian aspects of Islam and should also be able to use modern technology. Muslims must have the Quran in one hand and a computer in the other,” the PM said. Former IAS official, Mohd Ali Rafath, said, “The PM’s formula is good.” He added that his advice should be for all the youth of the country and not only for Muslim youth. All the youth of the country should adapt technology and grow for the steady growth of the country,” he said.

Former chairperson, Telangana state minorities commission, Abid Rasool Khan said also welcomed the statement of the Prime Minister. He said for the last decade the Muslim youth are coming forward and going in for higher education, along with Islamic education. “Reservations for jobs and higher educational institutions, zero tolerance for religious discrimination and a secure environment would help the Muslims in the long run,” he said.

Senior Income Tax consultant and lawyer, Mohd Jameeluddin said that Islam does not promote or encourage terrorism. “If Muslims go by the Quran, then there will be no terrorism. It is already, mentioned in the Quran about acquiring knowledge even if one has to travel to far-off places to get it,” he said. Mufti Mohammed Mastan Ali, of Jamiat-ul-Mominath, an Islamic seminary, said that several Muslim youths, including women from Madrasa backgrounds are embracing modern education and technology. “We have students who are now working in IT companies. Yet there are still familiar with the Islamic values and teachings,” he said.
