Devotees throng Tiruchendur Masi Brahmotsavam festival

The days following the hoisting of the flag were marked with special poojas and popular discourses on religion and spiritualism by scholars

Thoothukudi: Thousands of devotees witnessed the Masi Brahmotsavam car festival of Arulmigu Subramanyaswamy temple at Tiruchendur near here on Thursday.

The 12-day festival commenced on February 20 by hoisting the temple flag that was ceremonially brought by the temple Devasthanam priests in procession on elephant back.

poojas and popular discourses on religion and spiritualism by scholars.

On the tenth day of the Masi Brahmotsava festival on Thursday, the Vinayagar temple car was dragged around the four car streets at around 5.45 am. Following the Vinayagar car, the temple car of Swami Kumaravidanga Peruman with Valli and Deivanai was pulled at 6.45 am.

Tamil Nadu state minister for information and publicity Kadambur Raju and Subramanyaswamy temple Thakkar, Kannan Adithyan along with HR&CE officials and devotees pulled the car that came to its stand at the Shiva temple at around 8.25 am. Later the third temple car for Deivanai Amman too was pulled by people.

The deity and the goddesses clad in green during the car procession and the temple cars were elaborately decorated with flowers, gladdening the eyes of devotees who thronged Tiruchendur on the day from across the state.
