Tamil Nadu to provide career guidance counselling
Chennai: School education minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Wednesday announced that the school education department will provide career guidance counselling to class 10 and 12 students on April 6 and 7.
While wishing the students who are about to take the board exams, he said the counselling will be conducted at 541 places throughout the state.
"Students will be given counselling on various topics including higher education opportunities and job opportunities in the public sector and will get enlightened on competitive exams. Experts will also explain them about medical and engineering courses," he told reporters.
The department with the help of NGOs, private companies will provide food and water to the students who attend the counselling
When asked about the outdated syllabus for higher secondary students in the state, he said the government is considering it and an announcement will be made in a week's time.
On whether Tamil Nadu will be exempted from Neet he said, he would come to know only after discussing it with the Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisami who had returned from New Delhi on Tuesday.
Edappadi K Palanisami, while pressing for other demands with Prime Minister Modi, also sought the central government's support in getting the President's assent to the Tamil Nadu act exempting students from the Neet.
