Mangaluru: The faux pas over the best movie at the Oscars this year may have hogged the attention of audiences everywhere, but not in the coastal city of Mangaluru, which had a more intimate reason to celebrate the awards.

A Mangalurean, Aditya Prabhu, was on the team of Pixar, the production company of Piper, which won the Oscar for best animated short film at the prestigious event. Aditya is part of the company's Stereographic 3-D department, that comes out with 3-D versions of its movies.

With a Bachelors Course in Mechanical Engineering from Nitte, that he passed with distinction, in his pocket, Aditya went on to do his Masters at the Savannah College of Art and Design before joining Pixar in August 2015.

“When Aditya was in class IX he asked me to get a book on animation from Bengaluru! His passion and love for animation started at a very young age,” says his father, Prakash Prabhu, adding, “His dream was to go to Pixar. We are happy that the film his team worked on received the Oscar.”
