Jishnu Pranoy suicide case: Nehru College in Pambady fires 5 staff members, stir off

The trigger for the agitation was the entry of Krishnadas to the campus.

Thiruvananthapuram: The management of Nehru College in Pambady on Wednesday terminated the services of five staff members including the vice-principal, facing accusations about being responsible for the death of first-year engineering student Jishnu Pranoy. The college management gave a written statement on stamp paper on the termination of services of the accused persons.

The students of the college then withdrew the strike triggered by their allegation that the management had failed to ratify the agreement reached with the students during the talks held by the district collector a few days ago. The students had gone on strike on Wednesday morning.

The agreement had stipulated that the Nehru Group Chairman P.K. Krishnadas would not enter the college campus and he would hand over the responsibility to the vice-chairman.

The trigger for the agitation was the entry of Krishnadas to the campus. The students demanded his eviction and the implementation of the agreement which the management had refused initially. With all the students boycotting classes on Wednesday morning, the management agreed to the demands and gave a written statement in the evening.
