BJP: Construction of MLAs' camp offices a criminal waste of money
Hyderabad: Continuing its attack on the TRS government, the TS BJP on Wednesday said that construction of MLAs’ camp offices in the state was criminal waste of money. The party denounced Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision to spend over Rs 100 crore on MLA camp offices completely disregarding the accountability in spending taxpayer’s money for personal comforts of MLAs.
“TRS government has not moved an inch to fulfil promises made in its election manifesto like 2BHK houses for the poor. However, KCR has built a second official home for himself at a cost of around Rs 100 crore and is also building second homes for MLAs across the state with another Rs 100 crore,” said BJP spokesman Krishna Saagar Rao. He said that the TRS will pay a heavy price for “this misadventure and mockery of electoral promises” in the next elections.
“TRS government is setting a bad precedence for the entire country by splurging public money indiscriminately outside the framework of public good, and violating the Constitution time and again,” he alleged. Mr Krishna Saagar Rao said while wait for 50 per cent of the third instalment of farmer loan waiver has been continuing over the past one year, the TS government was showcasing its cruel apathy towards the poor and needy by its wasteful expenditure of public money on luxuries for MLAs. “KCR has already led the state into a debt trap of over 1.5 lakh-crore in just 2.5 years of his mis-governance. If he continues to waste taxpayer’s money, Telangana will be a financially bankrupt state sooner than later,” he said.
