APSRTC asked to run silent buses

The recent concept of Silence, which was communicated to RTC higher-ups by a section of passengers is being reviewed.

Vijayawada: The APSRTC has received a different kind of request from a section of the passengers. In the name of frequent travellers from Vijayawada in the special class buses like Garuda, Garuda-Plus and Amaravati, they have requested the RTC to run special buses of AC class with the theme ‘Silence’, wherein there would not be any noise pollution, like audio and video.

Also, they have suggested to the RTC to follow the speed limit of 80 kmph, as per the road standards of Vijayawada-Hyderabad Highway, which is designed and built to withstand the speed of 80 kmph. In fact, there were several instances earlier that the APSRTC drivers were asked by several passengers to go on par with private travels buses. However, the RTC drivers have convinced them that overspeed is not allowed in the corporation buses. In the recent past, several passengers have insisted on the RTC drivers to follow the speed of private travels, which is also in the notice of the RTC higher-ups. But, keeping the safety of the passengers in mind, the RTC never allowed any such pressure to happen.

The recent concept of Silence, which was communicated to RTC higher-ups by a section of passengers is being reviewed, a senior RTC officials told this correspondent. Naturally, as per the guidelines of the RTC, there will not be any video or audio play in the buses.“Keeping in view of the interest of the passengers, the RTC is planning to introduce AC class buses of Garuda, Garuda special and Amaravati, with the theme Silence,” a senior RTC officer told this correspondent.
