Repeat violations would lead to suspension of driving licences.

Hyderabad: The police count for traffic rule violations such as jumping signals, cellphone driving, speeding and over-loading of vehicles commenced on Tuesday.

Repeat violations would lead to suspension of driving licences.It’s a new phase of enforcement as motorists would be booked for violations.

“Earlier, traffic rule violations were booked based on the vehicle registration number. From now on, the driving licence details would be collected so that the offences of every motorist are counted,” said DCP Traffic, Hyderabad, A.V. Ranganath.
“We are also asking the motorist to submit a copy of the Aadhaar card,” he said.
Motorists complained that the signal system was not proper and there were no timers at a large number of signals. To this, police said they would withdraw cases if the appeal against the penalty was genuine. “Whatever be the offence, there is video evidence, an official said.
