CV Anand reviews Formula E race arrangements

HYDERABAD: City police commissioner CV Anand along with delegates of International Racing Federation and other police officials reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming Formula-E race to be held at NTR marg in the city on February 11, followed by day long events on February 12.

CV Anand said that adequate measures are being taking to ensure smooth conduct of Formula E race, Budget session of the Telangana Assembly and the construction works of the Secretariat Building as all three would be taking place around the same time.

After inspecting the 2.37km long racing track, Anand said the drawbacks noticed during the preparatory race held in December, are rectified. Law & Order police along with Traffic and other departments, have planned in detail about the event arrangements, starting from entry & exit for spectators, parking points, traffic diversions, etc.

“300 personnel from Law & Order and 275 from the Traffic wing will be deployed for the event. We appeal to the public to avoid the NTR marg and surrounding roads, which might expect congestion due to the event. Since it's an international event and happening in the city for the first time in the country and due to the traffic diversions, people might face some trouble. We appeal to the people to cooperate,” Anand added.

He added that the NTR marg will be completely closed for vehicular traffic on February 5, Sunday, for track checking and preparation. However, it will be open on February 6. From February 7 till 12, NTR marg will be completely closed. During this time, employees of secretariat, vehicles on secretariat works, will be allowed through the rear entrances on the Secretariat campus. Khairatabad Flyover and Telugu Talli flyover would also be completely closed during this time.

While advising people to use Metro during the diversions, police also said that they have asked TSRTC to minimise services on the routes surrounding the NTR marg.

21,000 people from across the globe are expected to witness the event.

16 stands, 7 gates and 4 foot over bridges have been put up in place to facilitate free crowd movement.
