Bengaluru: Sumalatha Ambareesh, Wife of actor-turned politician M.H. Ambareesh, under pressure from fans and supporters of Congress, broke her silence to announce that she would contest only from Mandya if she decides to enter electoral politics.
Speaking to reporters outside her residence, Mrs Sumalatha Ambareesh first thanked the people of Mandya for love and affection towards members of her family. “Ambareesh used to always think of Mandya. Now I realised why. The kind of love and affection you (fans and supporters) showered on us, we can not repay it. Therefore, I am indebted to you,” she added
She said as the coalition was in office, it would not be wise to speak about political issues including contesting elections from Mandya. “We do not know what the Congress and its leaders will think. We can not preempt. Therefore, we will wait for the decision of senior leaders. If at all I want to launch a political career, it will be from Mandya alone,” she announced.
On the issue of JD(S)’ demand to field its candidate, she said she would not challenge or no had an intention to take on any one. “Let us wait for some more days and then will think of this issue,” she added.
