Union Budget 2018: Disappointing, says Opposition
CHENNAI: Various opposition party leaders claimed the Budget has not been wholesome in addressing various concerns of the people.
TNCC chief Su Thirunavukkarasar, a known BJP critic, claimed that the budget has been prepared with the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in mind. He said several crucial issues concerning the people have not been addressed in the budget speech.
MDMK general secretary Vaiko said that Mr Jaitley’s assertion that the income of farmers would double appeared to be far from reality. “I think Jaitely should be in a different world to claim that the earnings of farmers would double by 2022,” he said.
Expressing disappointment over the lack any announcements for the development of Dalits, VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan said the Budget did not meet the aspirations of the people.
Terming the 2018-19 Union Budget “largely disappointing one” PMK founder Dr S. Ramadoss said the announcements pertaining to agriculture would benefit the people only if they were implemented properly. “As this was the last full Budget of the Modi government, there were high expectations among the people, but it did not happen,” he said. He said there was no major announcements for the agriculture and rural development.
