Kerala: Report on honey-trap' case tabled

It also said that the voice clipping of a particular person could be made through digital technology.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While ethical issues are still being raised against minister A.K. Saseendran over the sleaze talk telecast by Mangalam TV, the P.S. Antony judicial commission report that probed into the matter says that the veracity of the audio cannot not be proved legally until the original voice file is traced. It also said that the voice clipping of a particular person could be made through digital technology.

According to the commission report tabled in the Assembly on Thursday, the original voice clipping, mobile phone used for recording and laptop used for editing could not be recovered by the investigation team. They were either suppressed or destroyed by the key accused.

Without obtaining the original voice recording the genuineness of the voice cannot be verified. Digital evidence that is tampered with cannot be accepted legally. The voice clipping of a particular person could be made through voice imitation and voice mixing, said the report. The commission also recommended that a code of conduct should be framed for ministers in general, especially in dealing with the media.
