ABVP leader abuses University of Hyderabad professor, suspended

The student called the professor a bastard' and also wrote that he didn't know the basics of economics

Hyderabad: Karan Palsaniya, a PhD student of University of Hyderabad and national co-convener of ABVP, was suspended from the university for one year for using abusive language on Facebook against professor K. Laxminarayana of department of economics.

The university proctorial board found the student guilty of posting a public message on Facebook abusing and questioning the credentials of the professor and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on him.

The controversy began when Karan Palsaniya uploaded a question paper of economics of education set by professor K. Laxminarayana that had a question: ‘What are the new objectives being thrusted on the Public University because of privatisation and saffronisation of education?’ The student called the professor a ‘bastard’ and also wrote that he didn’t know the basics of economics and became a professor by blackmailing people.

The professor filed a complaint with the UoH vice-chancellor, while many student protests followed complaining of inaction by the university over the issue.
