The notification for the new master plan to place Warangal among the top cities is going to be released soon.

WARANGAL URBAN: Strategies for the fast development of Warangal are falling in place. It has been decided that the construction of the outer ring road around the city would begin on June 2 this year and the construction would finish by December 2018. Also the notification for the new master plan to place Warangal among the top cities is going to be released soon.

At a meeting held at the secretariat in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari and municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao discussed the development plans of the city with the district collector, GWMC commissioner, the mayor, Kuda chairman and the local representatives.

Officials were asked to make proper arrangements for the ORR which would be constructed with latest facilities. The decision to construct the ORR had been taken over a year ago. The Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is keen on developing Warangal into a world-class city and has announced the release of enough funds but the development works have taken the back seat resulting in the delay.

Addressing this issue, the ministers directed district officials to prepare a schedule for the works, to be expedited by June 2 this year, on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. The detailed project report and the land acquisition need to be completed and the tenders must be called for to complete the project by December 2018.

The 72km ORR would have rest areas every 20 km, radial roads and interchanges. The role of the local MLAs is going to be important while acquiring the land. The officials and the MLAs need to work in tandem to gather the required land on time.

During the meeting it had also been decided that the notification for the new master plan of Warangal would be called for on March 4 and was likely to be finalised within one year.

The current master plan was designed in 1971 and does not help the overall development of the city. Mr Srihari and minister Ram Rao directed officials to prepare the master plan clearly marking the area for radial roads, underground drainage, split roads, industrial colonies and amusement parks. The officials were asked to meet regularly to monitor the progress of these works.
