COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore corporation has initiated the sewage construction work at Cheran Maa Nagar on Monday, in response to a report in the Deccan Chronicle which highlighted the people’s plight on this issue.
The stagnated sewage water becomes a breeding ground for the mosquitoes and causing inconvenience to the public, who reside in nearby areas of Cheran Maa Nagar.
The public petitioned the corporation twice regarding the sewage stagnation problem. The Deccan Chronicle wrote about the issue in its edition on January 26.
“We have petitioned the corporation administration two times to solve the problem. But all our efforts have fallen on deaf ears. After Deccan Chronicle highlighted the problem, it has got the corporation officials' attention. Finally, the corporation officials have initiated new sewage construction work at Cheran Maa Nagar on Monday. The public of the area thank the Deccan Chronicle for its report of the plight of the people,” said N.R. Ravi Shankar, a resident of Cheran Maa Nagar.
