Hyderabad: Slew of mishaps kill 6 on New Year eve
Hyderabad: Six persons were killed in accidents on Sunday night and the early hours of Monday. Valupu Raju, 25, a resident of Keesara, was returning home from Ankireddypalli village on his bike. He lost control of the bike and crashed into a tree. A police patrol team that rushed to the spot found him dead.
Metupally Saicharan, a 19-year-old ITI student, his friend Gyara Uday and his brother-in-law Sahadev were heading towards Prathapasingaram on a bike, when near Nalla Narsimha Reddy College, Saicharan lost control of the bike and it skidded and all three fell off. Saicharan had severe injuries and succumbed to them in hospital. The other two had minor injuries.
In Bhongir district under Bibinagar police station limits, Naresh, 19, also an ITI student from Edulabad, was on his way to meet his friends when he was hit by an incoming car on the Hyderabad Warangal highway.
Naresh was flung off his scooter and landed on the windshield of the car; the scooter was struck in the car's bumper.
The car, with Naresh on the windshield, dragged the scooter for about 250 metres.
In Rangareddy district, two farmers Muthaiah, 46, and Parvathalu, 39, were travelling towards Hyderabad in a pickup van with vegetables when the van collided with another vehicle at Amangal, killing both men.
The drivers of both the vehicles were injured. Vijayalakshmai, 29, from Siddipet district was the victim of yet another road accident.
She was travelling to her maternal home near Mantralayam along with her two kids in an SUV. The driver dozed off and the vehicle ran off the road and overturned. Vijayalakshmi died on the spot; the others escaped with minor injuries.
