Hyderabad: Moula Ali Dargah ramp works slips deadline
Hyderabad: The ramp works at the Moula Ali Dargah that’ll allow visitors to drive their vehicles till the midway of the hilltop seems to be moving at a snails pace. The project was supposed to be completed by the end of 2016. However it seems to be a distant dream for now.
Mr Altaf Haider Rizvi, the MLC of Moula Ali said: “Total funds of Rs 2.25 crore were sanctioned for the ramp; the works got delayed because there were many challenges while constructing the ramp.
“The main challenge was cutting the rocks, and making the ramp through it. Laying underground pipes for the release of excess water was also a dispute as any minor leakage may lead to the many problems,” said the MLC.
Mr Krishnam Raju, a welding shop owner at Moula Ali said: “There could be few problems on the ramp because it doesn’t have any lights and the road is also uneven. The works have been halted for a month now. No proper security arrangements have been made on this ramp.”
However, the Dargah officials said the ramp might help the elderly, but now very few are using it because the works are not completed. There are also chances of vehicles skidding off due to the uneven bumps and turns on the ramp.
“People from any religion are welcome with grace but no other activities like trekking, celebrations etc will be entertained. There were few instances when people tried to create nuisance by lighting fireworks and dancing to film songs, but they were warned,” said Ashraf Ali Razvi, the dargah superintendent.
Mr Razvi added that officials should focus on providing adequate security to avoid such incidents.
