Bengaluru: Taking strong exception to BJP leaders raking up the ultra luxury Hublot wrist watch case, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on Sunday charged that saffron party leaders were making baseless charges against him by raising the case which was a closed chapter.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Siddaramaiah angrily remarked that BJP leaders were raising an “already dead” issue only to hog the limelight. “This is a cheap and crass style of seeking publicity,” he said.
According to him, the Hublot watch owner, Girish Sharma had claimed ownership of the contentious watch and not a BDA engineer as BJP claims. “Mr Sharma has submitted documents claiming ownership to the government, as the watch has been declared a state asset,” he said.
BJP leader S. Suresh Kumar had alleged that CM Siddaramaiah was the beneficiary of a BDA officer’s largesse who had presented him the Hublot.
