Anantapur: A video of a leopard on a hillock along the Pavagada Road near Madakasira in Satya Sai district has gone viral on the social media.
The leopard appeared about one-and-a-half-year old and must have come from the forest nearby in search of sheep and stray dogs. It stayed on the hillock for a few before disappearing.
Leopards have been spotted several times in this area as it is close to a forest.
Forest officials say mother leopards sometimes abandon their cubs, which then have to struggle for existence. Such cubs normally enter human habitations in search of easier prey of sheep and stray dogs.
Meanwhile, devotees visiting Lord Shiva Temple located on the hill top in Madakasira every day as it is the holy Karthikamasam are going in groups.
“We are visiting the temple in a group with necessary safety measures to offer pooja at the temple,” a devotee Kowmudi Ramu from Madakasira said.
