Hyderabad: Centralised system to monitor traffic
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, in co-ordination with traffic police, has decided to float a single tender to install 155 new traffic signals, maintain the existing 221 units and repair the 104 pelican signals. The GHMC will spend Rs. 58.8 crore for the purpose.
Sources say, traffic police had asked the civic body to float a single tender for improving signalling systems in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerate limits, so that there could be uniformity. Police also asked the civic body to set up a centralised monitoring system for better coordination. The issue was even taken up with municipal administration principal secretary Arvind Kumar. He asked the civic body to shortlist an agency for maintaining the existing signals (Rs 20 crore), installing new traffic signals (Rs 30 crore), repairing the defunct pelican signals, apart from establishing 104 new pelican signals (Rs 8.8 crore).
