Kottayam: The MG University has become the first  one in the country to conduct graduate-level examinations through online question papers.

The third semester degree examinations in 196 colleges affiliated to the university, which began on November 27, were conducted online. The college authorities can download  the question paper from the server two minutes before the commencement of the examinations and distribute it the respective classes. There is no chance of leakage of questions in this system.

The university earlier had successfully conducted the post-graduate examinations through online questions. According to Vice-Chancellor Dr Sabu Thomas, the questions are put online after they are valued by the board of studies of the university and an outside expert committee. The teachers can forward their questions to the university to be added to the online paper.

University sources said the students can also suggest questions and their best questions will be included in the second phase.

The online question papers are handled with the secure question paper system in a foolproof manner to avoid leaks.
