Hyderabad: Homeless couple's baby abducted

The accused and the parents are homeless people residing at Vidyanagar Railway station and used to beg for a living, the police said.

Hyderabad: An eight-month-old baby boy was allegedly kidnapped by a man who was known to the parents residing near Vidyanagar Railway Station early Friday morning.

According to Government Railway Police officials, Ghouse, an acquaintance of the parents, Srikanth and Miraj, took the baby, Eshwar, away while the parents were sleeping early Friday morning.

“All three of them were homeless people residing at Vidyanagar railway station and used to beg for a living. On Thursday night, Ghouse and the parents consumed toddy and went to sleep on the platform of Lalaguda railway station. On Friday morning around 6 am, Ghouse took away the baby and boarded an autorickshaw. The CCTV images showed him disembarking the autorickshaw at Rathifile near Secunderabad railway station. His whereabouts after that are not known yet,” said an officer.

The parents have not received any phone call from Ghouse with any demand, the official added.

Based on a complaint from Eshwar’s mother, Miraj, a case was booked under relevant sections of the IPC and an investigation is underway, the police said.
