Temperatures dip in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The temperatures are decreasing in the city for the past three days winter cold has to reach its peak. Suddenly the cold has increased. The dense fog covers the roads till 6.30 a.m. in many areas. On the city outskirts, the fog envelops the city till 7 am. Heavy vehicle drivers are stopping their vehicles by the side of the road and leaving after the fog clears. Few locals prefered staying indoors till the weather changes.
On Tuesday the temperatures of Vijayawada dropped to 19 degrees Celsius. Walkers enjoy the cold weather and are happy to walk in the early morning. “It is very comfortable chill. It has turned chill suddenly from last three to four days. It is the very enjoyable weather for walkers and sportsmen too. But the fog may affect us Cases illness’’ said Mr. Prudhvi Katragadda, an Engineering student.
Compared to the last year the chill was delayed this year. Hoping, the temperatures will continue to drop until January 3rd week. Due to the change in weather, the fevers have increased in and around the city. Hospitals become busy with the cold, cough, and fever. “When the temperatures drop, Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) increases. At this time the children should be given special care. Every year 4.3 crore children suffer from ARI in India, and as many as 4 lakh die due to pneumonia. Children should be vaccinated with pneumococcal and influenza vaccines,” said Dr M. Rajesh, paediatrician of Nellore. “Regulary wash hands, use handkerchiefs and mosquito nets to avoid contracting the disease” to cold air, Hot water drinking, isolating, avoiding contact with children if member of family has a cough or cold, if the symptoms won't decrease till a week, should contact physician” Dr. Rajesh added.
